Tourism industry’s Castray vision food for thought

Tasmania has the most innovative and forward-thinking tourism industry in the country and the vision they have released today for the Castray Esplanade area is testament to that.

Tasmania is going through a massive resurgence at the moment.  Right around the State, we as a community are re-imagining how to make the most of what we have.

Investment in Tasmania has grown by an amazing 32 per cent for the quarter and is up 44 per cent compared to June 2017, with the value of projects in Tasmania jumping by $2.4 billion across the year.

Projects like Devonport Living City, the Northern Cities University redevelopments, the C.H. Smith building revival and City Heart project in Launceston as well as the Macquarie Point redevelopment in Hobart are all examples of what can be achieved.

The opportunities along Castray Esplanade are just as significant.

The tourism industry’s vision for the Castray Esplanade area is well worth considering, especially as we continue discussions with the Federal Government about the development of a major science and Antarctic precinct as part of the Macquarie Point development.

It’s these sorts of projects that are driving our economy and confidence levels to new heights in Tasmania and we will continue to encourage innovative ideas like this, which are underpinning a golden age for the State.
