Time to call out Rebecca White's small target strategy

Labor is deliberately keeping leader Rebecca White away from the media in order to avoid scrutiny.

Due to media enquiries, Labor were aware late last week that a story was about to break that they had outsourced their election campaign to Victoria.

In response, Ms White was wheeled out for an innocuous media event on Sunday in order to “tick” the media box – and hasn’t been seen since.

Instead, Labor relies on Josh "Whingeing" Willie to provide a distraction so Ms White can stay in hiding.

Labor are banking on the fact that by the time Ms White does again front the media, the caravan will have moved on and she won’t have to explain her outsourcing of jobs to Victoria.

This is a tactic Labor replays over and over – for example, Ms White also avoided media over mandatory sentences for child abusers, disunity at their State Conference, and Labor’s split position on pokies.

It’s remarkable that as a backbencher in the Government, I make myself available to the media more often than the Leader of the Opposition.

It’s simply not good enough, and it's time that this tactic was called out.
