Time for Labor to state position on capping power prices

Labor must state once and for all if they support our legislation to cap power prices and reduce the cost of living for Tasmanians.

Last time Labor were in Government power prices rose by 65 per cent, so you would think the least they could do now is support our plan to cap prices.

Yet when given the opportunity yesterday, Labor’s energy spokesperson and leadership aspirant David O’Byrne refused to state if Labor would vote in favour of capping electricity price growth to no more than CPI for a three-year period.*

Our plan is clear- we will break the former Labor-Green Government’s link with mainland prices and give Tasmania the lowest power prices in the nation by 2022.

It’s past time Labor got off the fence, stated their position and started putting Tasmanians first.
