*EMBARGOED UNTIL 6:00PM ON MONDAY, 17 NOVEMBER 2014
The Theatre Royal 2015 Season was launched today.
In 2014 the Theatre Royal has seen both increases in audience numbers and productions playing in the theatre.
In 2015, audiences can expect even more exciting shows at the Theatre Royal.
Highlights to look forward to include Affinity presented by Tasdance in conjunction with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. It will feature new dance choreographed by Graeme Murphy and Stephanie Lake, both of whom grew up in Tasmania.
Tasmania Performs will present Justus Neumann's latest production, The Alzheimer's Symphony. In The Alzheimer's Symphony a famous old actor forgets his lines during a performance of Shakespeare's King Lear. He begins to develop tricks to fight his forgetfulness which now follows him into every corner of his private life.
The Theatre Royal's Chief Executive Tim Munro and his team have put together a diverse, innovative and entertaining program for which they should be congratulated.
The Tasmanian Government is providing the Theatre Royal with total funding of $358,000 in 2015 to help them put on another magnificent season of performances.
I encourage all Tasmanians and visitors to our State to take the opportunity to see a show at the Theatre Royal in 2015.
