The Tasmanian Premier’s Reading Challenge 2020

No matter what you aspire to do or be, reading and literacy skills will help you get there.

This year’s Premier’s Reading challenge has officially kicked off, and I want to encourage all Tasmanian students to take up the challenge and read as often as possible during the 10 weeks.

2020 marks Hawthorn Football Club’s fourth year of involvement in the Challenge and I thank them for their commitment to support Tasmanian readers - football is all about passion and skill, and the Tasmanian Government is committed to helping our students build the passion and skills they need for reading.

I encourage all Tasmanian students from Prep to Grade 6 to take part in the challenge, no matter what your reading level.

I also encourage parents to get involved. Helping your child choose books and listening to them read are great ways to help your child to engage in reading.

All participating students receive Challenge stickers, a bookmark and go in the weekly draw to win a Hawthorn book pillow and one of two signed Hawthorn Guernseys.

Students who complete the challenge will be awarded a certificate, and will have the chance to win one of three $100 book prizes and another three signed Hawthorn Guernseys.

Participating schools will have a chance to win one of three $500 prizes to buy library books. Home Educators will also have a chance to win a $100 prize to buy books for their home library.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge runs from 27th of April 2019 until the 3rd of July.
