The Premier's Reading Challenge

More than 100,000 books are read every year as part of the annual Premier's Reading Challenge.

This year I encourage all Tasmanian students to take up the challenge of reading at least 10 books in 10 weeks.

Reading and literacy skills are the basic building blocks for life, and books can open a world of adventure.

The seventh annual Premier's Reading Challenge will start on June 10 and finish on August 18.

Last year more than 170 schools registered and more than 30,000 students took part in the challenge.

Everyone who enters the challenge will receive a bookmark, stickers and special wrist band.

Students who complete the challenge will be awarded a certificate and be in with a chance to win one of three $100 book voucher prizes.

The schools that participate will also have a chance to win one of three $500 prizes to buy library books.
