Major crime drama series The Gloaming will have injected more than $7.5 million into the Tasmanian economy when filming wraps up later this month after an 18 week shoot.
This return is more than seven times the $1 million the Hodgman Liberal Government invested into the series through Screen Tasmania’s Screen Innovation Fund.
The Gloaming, which has been filming in Hobart and surrounds since March, has employed more than 50 crew and a substantial number of Tasmanian cast members, including in featured roles.
Forty-seven Tasmanian businesses have benefited from more than $6 million of spending, providing a cash injection into our local economy during the traditionally quieter winter months.
One such business is Peppermint Ridge Catering, which has been busily preparing meals for The Gloaming’s cast and crew for 18 weeks.
Since cooking up a storm for The Kettering Incident in 2014, Peppermint Ridge has catered for a variety of Tasmanian commercials, films and television series including Rosehaven and feature film Lion.
