Tasmania’s iconic River Derwent will be showcased at the latest exhibition at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) which opens today.
The Derwent exhibition features contemporary videos and photographs by Tasmanian artists David Stephenson and Martin Walch of the River Derwent, along with historic panoramas and photographic works from TMAG’s collection.
The Derwent will not only showcase the natural beauty of the River Derwent but reveal the diverse environments and usages of the river with immersive videos and time-lapse photographs.
The Derwent is generously supported by Hydro Tasmania which is a Major Partner of the exhibition. Additionally, the artists’ research was supported by research grants from the University of Tasmania and the Australian Research Council.
The Tasmanian Government is committed to supporting and growing our cultural and creative industries which play a vital role in achieving our T21 goal of attracting 1.5 million visitors to the State by 2020.
I thoroughly recommend attending The Derwent exhibition which will be on display at TMAG from Friday, 28 July – Sunday, 5 November 2017. Open Tuesday – Sunday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The Hydro Tasmania The Derwent Symposium is on 22 September 2017 and the Hydro Tasmania Family Day is on 8 October 2017.
