The course is set for Targa Tasmania

On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, this evening at the Targa Tasmania 2016 Presentation Dinner I announced we will provide ongoing support financial support to Targa Tasmania.

The Tasmanian Government, through Events Tasmania, will provide $1.48 million to the organisers of Targa Tasmania to support this world-class event from 2017-2021.

This investment into one of Tasmania’s most iconic events is an example of the government’s strong commitment to events and the goal of attracting 1.5 million visitors to Tasmania by 2020.

Targa Tasmania returns over $8 million into the State economy each year, and attracts around 2 800 people from interstate, not to mention repeat visits.

Targa Tasmania also gives Tasmanians the chance to see a world-class motorsport event as it travels around our beautiful and scenic State.

Targa Tasmania held its inaugural tarmac rally in 1992 and has been supported by the Tasmanian Government ever since.

I wish to personally congratulate Targa Tasmania as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.
