TFGA 70th birthday highlights its vital role

Congratulations to the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association which is this week celebrating 70 years of operation.

The TFGA provides a powerful and effective voice for Tasmania’s farming sector and the government appreciates its shared vision for rural and regional Tasmania.

We are backing the TFGA’s mission to provide a united voice for farmers to ensure the growth, sustainability and profitability of our agriculture industry.

There is no greater supporter of Tasmanian farmers than the Hodgman Liberal Government and we are investing $150 million in our AgriFood Plan 2018-23 to help grow the value of agriculture to $10 billion by 2050.

The TFGA is an integral part of this plan, providing advice and feedback and helping to shape public policy.

Its leadership has been instrumental in creating lasting change and a vibrant future for farmers and our rural communities, such as the formation of Tasmanian Irrigation and advancements in research and development.

Tasmanian produce is the envy of the world and the government is continuing to work with TFGA to build on opportunities, while also protecting what is unique about our state and the Tasmanian way of life.

I pay tribute to the many current and former TFGA office bearers and staff who will take part in a celebration event this evening – your contribution is highly valued and recognised.
