Tenders called for Arthur-Pieman Committee members

I am pleased to announce the Government is today calling for expressions of interest to enable the reinstatement of the Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area Management Committee.

This is a great outcome for the community and I thank the Minister for Parks, Elise Archer for progressing action to resolve this important issue for the community.

It is clear the community needs their voice heard on important matters such as the re-opening of the Arthur-Pieman, and I have strongly advocated for the committee to be reinstated following the lodgement of the tracks submission to the Federal Minister.

This committee was established under the current management plan for the Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area (APCA) and it plays an important role in engaging with the users of the reserve and providing advice and support to the Parks and Wildlife Service in managing the reserve.

The Government is committed to facilitating sensible and appropriate access to the area, and the reinstatement of the Committee will give the community a much stronger voice regarding important matters such as this.

The Government will reinstate the APCA Management Committee as soon as possible. The committee is made up of six members and they are normally appointed for a period of three years.
