Tender advertised for school upgrades

Tasmanian schools will benefit from construction projects advertised for tender totalling more than $3.1 million, providing capital investment upgrades to students’ learning environments while driving economic growth and creating jobs.

This Saturday two significant building tenders will be advertised that will see our current and future students enjoy high-quality education facilities that meet the needs of modern learners.

With the state’s economy growing and the Budget coming back under control, the Government can now invest the dividends into the core business of government, including providing for the needs of Tasmania’s students.

The construction tenders advertised this weekend are:

  • School of Special Education North West: Major refurbishment to enable relocation from the Hellyer College site to the former Acton Primary School in Burnie.
  • Ulverstone Primary School: Alterations and additions to the administration and library areas.

In total, the Tasmanian Government has committed to a $94.9 million Capital Investment Program over the four years from 2015-16 to 2018-19 with additional funding of $9.5 million during 2015-16 for new projects. These funds will ensure that schools across the state will have high-quality education facilities that support learning and student engagement.

These projects are part of that commitment to ensure students have access to contemporary, inclusive and flexible facilities where they have the greatest opportunity to explore their passions and discover a path to their future career.

It is also part of a strategic investment in our state’s infrastructure that will drive economic growth and create jobs from planning to construction.
