Taylor Bros chalks up another defence win for Tasmania

Taylor Bros has signed a new deal to supply a total turnkey contract for accommodation outfitting of the Royal Australia Navy’s new offshore patrol vessel, becoming the second Tasmanian company to announce a significant defence contract this month.

Part of the Navy’s $3.6 billion SEA 1180 Offshore Patrol Vessels program, Taylor Bros will supply internal fitouts to 12 new offshore vessels being delivered through to 2030.

The contract will create more local jobs at the company’s Hobart site and provide ongoing employment for its current workforce.

This deal is the latest in a string of positive and exciting new contracts for the State, which has included the $10 million Liferaft Systems Australia contract and the University of Tasmania’s Australian Maritime College’s MoU with Thales to establish a new sonar test facility in Launceston that will sustain up to 20 ongoing local jobs.

These recent successes demonstrate to the global defence community that the Tasmanian advanced manufacturing and research sectors can deliver the high quality products and services they need to fulfil their large-scale defence and security needs.
