TasTAFE students studying for Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas will soon be able to defer the cost of their tuition fees under a similar scheme to that offered to university students.
The VET FEE-HELP loan scheme will be available to eligible TasTAFE students from 1 July 2014.
The Australian Government loan scheme, which is already available through a number of mainland training providers, allows students to defer tuition fees for Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications.
For the first time, Tasmanian students will have the same options as their mainland counterparts where there are no upfront tuition fees.
This will make TasTAFE courses more accessible to more people and increase the number of Tasmanians in training.
The Government is committed to encouraging young Tasmanians to continue their education not only to Year 12 but beyond, and we are confident this initiative will help to achieve our objective of creating a job-ready generation.
