TasTAFE Education Blueprint

Tasmanians are being encouraged to have their say on the future of TasTAFE as it maps an Education Blueprint to outline its priorities.

The Minister for Education and Training Jeremy Rockliff said this was a watershed time for TasTAFE and encouraged Tasmanians to be a part of it.

“As Tasmania’s economy moves to new emerging industries, our public training provider must change with it,” Mr Rockliff said.

“The Education Blueprint will ensure TasTAFE continues to create a workforce with the capacity to meet the needs of the future job market.

“I encourage Tasmanians, whether they’re from an industry or a community group or the general public, to be a part of next month’s public consultation process.”

TasTAFE CEO Stephen Conway said the “roadshow” will begin on August 3 and continue to August 14 and includes Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, Campbell Town, the Tasman Peninsula, the East and West Coasts and the Huon Valley.

“This process is about getting the community’s ideas, feedback and suggestions in a roundtable setting,” he said.

“We’ll be looking at four key themes including providing quality learning that is accessible, innovation, learning partnerships and contemporary and cutting edge learning.

“We’ll also be discussing how TasTAFE manages infrastructure and technology, its workforce, the system of learning and training and its future aspirations to truly work with and for Tasmania.

“We will be inviting key stakeholders to the information sessions but would like to see as many members of the public as possible as well so that we can hear from a wide cross section of the community."
