TasTAFE Board appointment

Following the retirement of board member Neville Smith, former General Manager of TAFE Tasmania and former Executive Manager of the Drysdale Institute, Aaron Devine, has been appointed to the TasTAFE Board.

With over 15 years of policy and leadership experience in the vocational education and training, schools and higher education sectors, as well as strong connections to Tasmania's tourism and hospitality sectors, Mr Devine brings governance skills, national and international leadership experience, and industry networks both locally and more broadly.

With roles ranging from general manager of TAFE Queensland Brisbane, to various roles with the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE and Charles Darwin University, Mr Devine will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to TasTAFE.

Mr Devine recognises the need for TasTAFE’s training to be closely aligned with the needs of industry to help the organisation achieve its goals and to support a strong Tasmanian economy.

He is currently managing director of Devine Management Solutions where he has recently completed a strategic review of the labour and training requirements of the Tasmanian hospitality and tourism sectors and worked on several projects for TAFE Directors Australia.

Mr Devine has been appointed for a period of three years.

I’d like to thank Neville Smith for his contribution to the Tasmanian vocational education and training sector as a TasTAFE Board Member since 2013, and through previous directorships with the former TAFE Tasmania and the Tasmanian Skills Institute.
