Last night saw the closing ceremony of the 2015 Masters Games in Adelaide, with the next Games to be held in Tasmania for the first time in 30 years in 2017.
With the ceremonial flag now handed over to the Cradle Coast Authority, it’s time for Tasmania to start preparing.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is right behind the 2017 Masters Games and that’s why we have committed $750,000 to underpin the event. There is no doubt that Tasmania will get a massive return on its investment from this fantastic event.
The Masters Games will be a huge boon for Tasmania, with thousands of people from all over the country set to attend the event and pump nearly $10 million into the local economy. The whole State will be on show and many of the competitors and visitors will use the opportunity to visit other parts of Tasmania, making sure the event will deliver benefits for the whole State.
This really is a great opportunity for the Coast to showcase our region’s unique hospitality, natural attractions and premium produce to Australians from across the country.
