Tassie gets behind Cox Plate Contender

Tasmania's full support will be with champion racehorse The Cleaner when it runs in tomorrow's $3 million Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

The Lion of Longford, as he's been affectionately dubbed, has garnered national attention, winning over racegoers across the country with its gutsy front running style and remarkable underdog story.

Regardless of the outcome, The Cleaner and Longford trainer Mick Burles are to be congratulated on what they have already achieved and the exposure the local champion has received.

The Cleaner's success has been an excellent opportunity to promote Tasmanian Racing, with Tasracing and the Mooney Valley Racing Club partnering in a national marketing campaign driving interest around the country.

Tasracing, in consultation with the Tasmanian Racing Club and SKY channel, have rescheduled the local race meeting originally set for last Sunday to tomorrow, to take advantage of The Cleaner running in the Cox Plate.

I would encourage all Tasmanians to get behind this local champion in its bid to make racing history.
