The recent release of TASMAP's fourth edition of its popular Cruising Southern Tasmania Guide provides a high quality mapping product which will assist Tasmanians enjoy the beautiful waterways of Tasmania's south east.
This guide was produced through active collaboration between government and the community, with TASMAP providing the cartographic expertise and the Cruising Yacht Club of Tasmania providing detailed yachting information based on their vast experience.
TASMAP, the State Government's mapping arm, which is part of the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) Information and Land Services Division, revised the product in association with the Cruising Yacht Club of Tasmania (CYCT).
The guide's detailed maps and notes provide information about anchorages, weather patterns, potential hazards and shore facilities, and has been expanded to cover waterways all the way from Wineglass Bay to South East Cape.
The Commodore of CYCT Stephen Newham said the end product is the result of countless hours of work by a group of dedicated CYCT members and others, in particular the DPIPWE Geodata Services Branch and Marine and Safety Tasmania.
"I am sure you will find this guide an indispensable item on your vessel," Mr Newham said.
