Tasmania’s unemployment rate remains low

Australian Bureau of Statistics labour force data released today for September shows Tasmania’s unemployment rate remains steady at 5.9 per cent, much lower than the 7.5 per cent recorded in March 2014.

In trend terms employment in Tasmania rose to be 0.7 per cent, or 1,600 people, higher than a year ago.

The Government is focused on delivering our commitments, including a record $2.6 billion in infrastructure and record investments into education and health, stimulating even more jobs and investment, and underpinning Tasmania’s future economic growth.

But we know more work needs to be done, and we will continue to focus on job-creating initiatives that will help even more Tasmanians into work.
