The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to growing Tasmania’s share of the international education market and cementing our reputation as a global education hub.
I am pleased to announce the 2017/18 Budget will allocate $3 million over the next four years to deliver Tasmania’s new Global Education Strategy.
The Strategy will aim to increase Tasmania’s share of the international education market by leveraging our growing reputation for high quality products and experiences, and we will work with all of Tasmania’s education and training providers to increase the number of students coming to our state to study
International education is already a significant contributor to the Tasmanian economy, providing over $211 million in revenue to the state in 2015-16 and injecting cash into our retail, transport, accommodation, tourism and hospitality sectors.
