Tasmania's Forests Network

Tasmania’s Forests and Forests Products Network has met for its first annual forum in Launceston today following the industry’s strongest export performance in nine years.

The need for the Forestry Network was identified in the Industry Growth Strategy, and now boasts more than 200 members.

Recent ABS figures confirm strong growth in Tasmania’s forest industries, with wood and wood products had hit 4 million tonnes in 2017/18.

In 2012/13, under the Labor/Greens Government, exports slumped to just 1.23 million tonnes.

Under the Hodgman Liberal Government export figures have tripled.

The recent Schirmer Report found that the forestry industry supports more than 5,700 jobs and is worth more than $1.2 million to the Tasmanian economy.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to ensuring the forestry industry continues to grow and that confidence remains.
