Tasmania’s exports continue to boom

Today’s Australian Bureau of Statistics export figures confirm that Tasmania’s exports are booming with annual growth in exports running at three times the national average.

Tasmania’s total exports reached $3.54 billion in the year to April 2018 – an increase of 35 per cent compared to the previous year.

Tasmania’s people, place and produce are in demand, with Asian markets leading the charge for Tasmanian products. Exports to China in particular were over $1 billion in the year to April.

More exports equals more jobs for Tasmanians and a stronger, growing economy.

That’s why we will lead a Tasmanian Trade Mission to China and Hong Kong in September this year to continue to build relationships, open new markets and increase international exports.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to supporting Tasmanian businesses realise their international export potential.
