Tasmanian exports continue to boom

There’s no doubt that Tasmania has what the world wants and today’s ABS exports figures are more confirmation that our economy is booming.

Tasmania’s total exports reached $3.7 billion in the year to June 2018, a 33 per cent increase compared to the previous year.

This is the fastest growth in the nation and four times the national rate, leaving no doubt that Tasmania’s economy is entering a golden age.

Our strong exports sector is creating jobs for Tasmanians across a range of industries, and this is just the latest positive economic indicator that confirms our long term plan is working.

CommSec earlier this week has Tasmania recording the fastest annual pace of economic growth over the last year, and the latest Sensis Business Index confirmed we have the most popular policies in the nation with small and medium businesses.

But we know there is still more to do, which is why we will continue to roll out initiatives that boost the economy and create jobs.
