Tasmania’s Barnardos Mother of the Year

Congratulations to the Tasmanian Barnardos Mother of the Year Award winner Lisa King.

Lisa has been an inspiration to her family and friends, in times of love and sadness.

She has also reached out to strangers through her blog, sharing her experiences of being a mother and a wife, who has lost both a child and a husband.

I would also like to congratulate this year’s finalists, Jody-Lee Rosevear and Margaret Saunders.

Now in its 20th year, the Barnardos Mother of the Year Award is our country’s most recognised national award campaign.

This is so much more than an award. This is a chance to come together as a nation to celebrate all mothers. It is an important recognition of every mum, everywhere; birth mothers, foster mums, grandmothers, step mothers and adoptive mothers.

The Liberal Government is very proud to provide $5,000 towards the Tasmanian awards and host this event today.

Lisa will now represent Tasmania in Sydney next month for the National Mother of the Year award, to be announced on May 7.
