Tasmanians supporting local businesses

It’s very pleasing to see Tasmanians are supporting local businesses, with the latest ABS data showing retail trade grew by 4.2 per cent in July, in seasonally adjusted terms.

This was the third highest growth rate of any state, and higher than the national figure of 3.2 per cent.

The latest data also shows Tasmanians are supporting local hospitality businesses, with an 18 per cent increase on the previous month.

We are facing incredibly challenging times and businesses are still doing it tough, but this is further evidence our glide path approach is working.

We want to see this trend continue, and we encourage Tasmanians to continue exploring the state and supporting local businesses through our Make Yourself at Home voucher system.

Our number one priority is keeping Tasmanians safe, and we will continue to take Public Health advice as we recover and rebuild.
