Thank you to the brave Tasmanians who are making their way to Brisbane this week to help fight the bushfires in Queensland.
A contingent of 10 specialist fire personnel from Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Services will leave today from Hobart, Launceston and Devonport, and 42 Tasmanian firefighters will leave on Saturday to form strike teams to assist on the fireground.
For these Tasmanians to put their hands up at short notice to assist their interstate colleagues is a demonstration of the generosity and mateship that is felt Australia-wide.
Tasmanians know the devastating impact bushfires have, and we are more than willing to assist as much as possible.
Our thoughts go out to the Queensland communities affected by this disaster.
