Tasmanian ICT firm, Fortifyedge, is leading the world with on-device cybersecurity and smart software to help keep defence personnel and assets safe.
Through our Defence Industry Strategy, the Tasmanian Liberal Government is working with companies like Fortifyedge to assist them to identify opportunities and defence markets.
The successful proof of concept demonstration of Fortifyedge’s technology with Thales Australia at Pacific 2019 is an impressive display of Tasmanian ingenuity.
This is a great example of Tasmanian innovators playing a crucial role in supporting the defence sector.
The United States Air Force has awarded the company a contract through the renowned US Government R&D ‘Small Business Innovation Research’ program to develop real-time ‘behavioural authentication’ software to assist in tracking and locating personnel and assets.
Fortifyedge has also been working with Thales Australia to develop personnel monitoring software and hardware solutions for potential use by Australian defence forces, including the ‘SmartLanyard Personal Device’, which can operate in communication degraded environments.
The Australian Department of Defence’s Global Supply Chain Program, through Thales’ Global Supply Chain team, has provided support throughout both endeavours.
Fortifyedge is also the only Tasmanian company to be selected on CSIRO’s ‘ON Prime Defence’ program, which focusses on accelerating defence science and technology innovations and the company is working closely with the University of Tasmania’s School of Engineering and ICT to develop its cutting edge software.
