Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and MOFO 2016 top the country

The Tasmanian Government is a strong supporter of the cultural and creative industries in Tasmania and we recognise the many benefits the sector brings to the state.

On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I congratulate the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) for being awarded “Best Australian Contemporary Concert” at last night’s 2016 Helpmann Awards.

The Helpmann Awards are the pinnacle of recognition in the Australian live performing arts industry, and the award was won for the concert featuring Kate Miller-Heidke alongside the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra as part of MOFO 2016.

The visual design of the concert by Amy Gebhardt was also noted in the award.

This is an outstanding achievement for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and MONA that demonstrates the strength of the performing arts sector in Tasmania.
