Tasmanian issues to top the agenda at COAG

Tomorrow, the nation’s first ministers and the Prime Minister will gather in Hobart for the first COAG meeting to be held in Tasmania in nearly eight years.

With our State heading in the right direction, and our tourism industry booming, it's little wonder the nation's leaders would want to come to Tasmania.

At this meeting I will again strongly put Tasmania's case to be the nation's renewable energy battery, particularly in light of the announcement this week of more wind farm development here.

Health and reducing family violence are on the agenda, both areas where we are investing significantly through the State Budget to improve services for Tasmanians.

The Tasmanian Government will also work with other jurisdictions to ensure parole and bail arrangements are appropriate, and that we have the most effective national security measures in place to keep our communities safe, which will also be discussed at tomorrow's meeting.
