Tasmanian Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme

More than 3,366 Tasmanians have been approved for the Tasmanian Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme (TEELS), with more than $28.8 million approved for successful applicants.

TEELS is an important part of the Hodgman majority Liberal Government’s Plan to assist Tasmanians with cost of living pressures.

A  joint initiative with Aurora Energy and Westpac Banking Corporation, the scheme is assisting Tasmanians with the purchase of eligible energy efficient products through no-interest loans.

Successful applicants use the funds to invest in energy saving systems for their home, with solar panels the most popular followed by reverse cycle air conditioning and double/triple window glazing.

TEELS first commenced in May 2017, and was extended in April 2018 by the Government for a further 12 months, with an additional $20 million added to the pool.

The TEELS initiate aligns with the Hodgman Liberal Government’s Tasmania First Energy Policy, which aims to deliver low cost, reliable and clean electricity to all Tasmanians.

Our key energy targets are:

  • Lowest regulated power prices in the Nation by  2022
  • 100 per cent self-sufficient in renewable energy by 2022
