Tasmanian Community Fund

Today's budget delivers on our promise to reduce spending on boards and committees with almost $7 million in savings.

As part of our review of boards and committees, the Tasmanian Community Fund board will be replaced with an independent community panel to oversee the funds.

Decisions will continue to be made independently of government.

But as a result of the changes, the board's annual $130,000 in wages will be redirected back into the fund, which means more money for community organisations.

These grants help community organisations like Bethlehem House Tasmania, the Launceston City Mission and Rosebery Community House.

The independent community assessment panel will be established through an expression of interest process. Existing assessment criteria will remain in place to ensure the continuation of the sound process for administering the grants.
