I am very proud to support the largest Tasmanian contingent ever for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in their bid to represent their state and country on the Gold Coast.
Of the 14 Tasmanian athletes selected into the Australian Commonwealth Games Team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games next week, 10 will be competing at their first Commonwealth Games.
As well as kick-starting the Tasmanian Gold Coast Commonwealth Games fund appeal with a $40,000 donation, the Hodgman Liberal Government is providing support to our elite athletes, via the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, through access to high performance coaching, sports science, strength and conditioning coaching, training and competition equipment, national and international training, competition experiences and personal excellence advice and support.

Tasmanian born basketballer Chris Goulding has also been announced as part of the Australian Basketball team as part of the Games.
