Tasmanian artists take up residence
Arts Tasmania’s residency program provides highly creative and self-motivated artists with an opportunity to expand and enhance their artistic practice.
The program is supported by the Tasmanian Government and allows artists working in any artform to undertake residencies at wilderness and heritage locations across Tasmania.
Residency and professional development opportunities overseas are supported by a partnership with Arts Tasmania and the Alcorso Foundation.
Five artists will receive support to undertake opportunities later this year. They include:
- Philippa Mott, who is a Curatorial Assistant at Mona and will undertake a five-week tour of Europe to attend a workshop at the Royal College of the Arts in London, the 57th Venice Biennale, Documenta in Athens and Skulptur Projekte in Germany building upon her existing international network;
- Emily Sheppard, who is a classically trained violinist and violist who will undertake residencies at Mole Creek Caves and Hastings Caves;
- Julie Gough, who will undertake a residency at Woolmers Estate in 2018 to continue her investigations into her Aboriginal heritage and historic connections to Norfolk Plains, Woolmers and Brickendon estates.
