Now is your opportunity to take a virtual tour of the Royal Hobart Hospital Redevelopment with panoramic images of the K-Block design now available – a great way to preview the state-of-the-art facilities before they are built.
Thanks to the RHH Redevelopment architects, Lyons and Terroir, images of K-Block come to life through an online site and app called Roundme.
The program transforms spherical panoramic images into 360 degree views.
Roundme allows the viewer to see what it will be like to stand in the revitalised Campbell Street entrance.
A new, one-stop arrival and departure area for patients will be provided at the Campbell Street entrance, which will be adjacent to the reception, cashier, café and retail space.
It’s not every day you can take a look inside an operating theatre but you will be able to do so with this app.
When K-Block is complete, there will be seven more operating and procedure rooms in a new theatre precinct that extends across level 4 of K, A, C and D-Blocks.
A number of wards can also be toured including in the mental health wards.
K-Block will provide a substantial improvement to the current facilities including a significant increase in single bed rooms and spaces where mental health patients can be offered contemporary treatment and support such as with sensory modulation and de-escalation.
Director of Lyons Architecture, Cameron Lyon said the availability of interactive digital programs could take a design and make it ‘real’ for the viewer.
“We find being able to show the design intent of the Royal Hobart Hospital in three dimensions really helps everyone to visualise the space of the architecture and the materiality,” Mr Lyon said.
