Support for the reinstatement of the Arthur Pieman Management Committee

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to reversing the Labor-Green lock-ups of the Arthur-Pieman area to recreational off-road vehicle drivers, which is supported by many in the community.

It was my pleasure today to speak at the Reconciliation Rally in Smithton today where I reconfirmed our commitment to open the tracks and announced my strong support for the reinstatement of the Arthur Pieman Management Committee.

The Committee was disbanded due to the lengthy court proceedings against the re-opening of the tracks, but it is clear the community needs their voice heard on this and other important matters. Accordingly, I will be strongly advocating for the Committee to be reinstated immediately upon the lodgement of the tracks submission to the Federal Minister, which will be made in the next few weeks.

The Liberal Government is committed to facilitating sensible and appropriate access to our natural areas for all Tasmanians, and the reinstatement of the Committee will enable the community a stronger voice regarding important matters such as this.
