Support for Tasmanian Aboriginal artists

Four Tasmanian Aboriginal artists will be supported by the Hodgman Liberal Government to enrich and develop their skills, through the latest Arts Tasmania funding round.

The Tasmanian Aboriginal Arts Mentoring Scheme will provide four talented artists with a share of $40 000 in creative development funding, with a focus on supporting Tasmania’s Aboriginal cultural and creative community.

The scheme will allow Sandy Bay’s Jamie Graham to develop his cultural dance practice work alongside Tasmania Performs and Grace Williams-Mahon will focus on developing her visual arts practice.

The program will also enable Prospect’s Fiona Hughes to mentor young Aboriginal people in cultural dance and craft practices, and Madeline Wells of Wynyard to work with the team behind Women on the Island to develop a film about Tasmania’s Aboriginal Elders.
