Support for arts organisations announced

The Hodgman Liberal Government will invest more than $700,000 through Arts Tasmania  to support our creative industries undertaking activities across the State in 2019.

This is in addition to a $1.6 million commitment already provided for through existing multi-year agreements.

The new funding will enable small and medium arts organisations to deliver a range of high quality arts activities which will strengthen Tasmania's arts sector, engage and inspire audiences, and benefit Tasmania's professional artists.

Recipients include RANT Arts Ltd, which operates in the north of the State, to undertake a program of activities focusing on capacity building and professional development for regional artists.

Community arts organisation Kickstart Arts Inc. will receive multi-year support for 2019 and 2020 to work with artists and the community to produce works that activate the spaces at its Kickstart Arts Centre in New Town.

Second Echo Ensemble, based in Hobart, will receive support to embark on the development of two new ensemble-led works - Let Me Dry Your Eyes and What Makes You Beautiful.

New funds of $400 000 over two years has also been announced to provide support for Tasmanian theatre organisations.

Arts Tasmania will call for Expressions of Interest to the Tasmanian Theatre Fund in the coming weeks.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of arts organisations that employ people in the cultural and creative industries, enhance experiences for audiences and contribute to the Tasmanian brand.
