Strong interest on Next Iconic Walk

The period to submit proposals for Tasmania’s next world-class walking experience will be extended due to massive interest from across the State.

The Government will invest up to $20 million to deliver Tasmania’s next iconic multi-day, hut-based walk, and submissions are now open to help determine where it will be.

With communities, tourism operators, local government showing a high level of interest in putting forward submissions, the Government has decided to extend the submission deadline until Friday 11 January, 2019.

This will allow more time for interested parties to contribute to this exciting new project.

The Overland and Three Capes Tracks have captured the world’s attention and are a major drawcard for visitors to go beyond our major cities and tourist attractions and spend more time and money in regional communities.

Our plan is to deliver the next iconic walking experience in another region, to help make our visitors stay longer, see more of the state, and spend more while they are here.
