Tasmania’s relations with China are going from strength to strength, with the signing today of Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) between the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), the University of Tasmania (UTAS) and Natural Resource Management (NRM) South.
The visit in 2014 of China’s President Xi Jinping was a great opportunity to showcase our State and has resulted in significant opportunities to develop partnerships that are mutually beneficial.
The MOUs – between CAAS and UTAS, and CAAS and NRM South – highlight the growing importance of links in agricultural research, technologies and skills between Tasmania and China.
A Cotutelle Agreement, which is focused on international research and related candidate supervision, between CAAS and UTAS has also been signed today.
I congratulate CAAS, UTAS and NRM South on these important agreements which will underpin new opportunities to grow our agricultural and research sectors further.
