Sports Grants Programs Open

The Liberal Government is committed to encouraging active lifestyles and the annual sport and recreation grants will help to achieve this.

Applications for the 2014-15 Minor Grants and the 2015 Major Grants programs are now open for applications.

Both grants provide dollar-for-dollar assistance for equipment and the development or improvement of facilities or playing surfaces that benefit Tasmanian sport and recreation clubs.

The Minor Grants Program offers between $500 and $10,000, while the Major Grants Program offers between $15,000 and $80,000.

Previous grants allowed for the purchase of equipment for Athletes with Disability for the Tasmanian Table Tennis Association, restoration of the Longford Velodrome and construction of the Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Clubs Little Devils Terrain Park.

It is projects such as these that encourage Tasmanians to get active and live a healthier lifestyle by providing opportunities to participate in sport and recreation.

Applications for the Major Grant Program close February 4, and the Minor Grant Program closes March 4. For more details go to: www.sportandrecreation.tas.gov.au.
