The Tasmanian Government has provided a total of $600,000 to replace one of the artificial playing surfaces at both the Hobart and Launceston hockey facilities which was part of our election commitment.
A former keen hockey player myself, it was a pleasure to open the redeveloped hockey ground at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre, New Town in my electorate today, to see this commitment come to fruition.
The Hobart ground upgrade, completed in April this year, was also supported by a Tasmanian Community Fund grant of $226,200.
The Tasmanian Hockey Centre is a significant asset for Tasmania and will offer an attractive, high quality venue for local sporting associations and for national sporting events.
The Tasmanian Government is committed to developing and supporting well-planned sport and recreation infrastructure that provides Tasmanians with opportunities to play sport and be physically active.
Investing in sport and recreation facilities creates healthier communities and supports the Tasmanian Government’s goal of Tasmania becoming the healthiest state by 2025.
