The 2016 Smith Family Christmas Appeal is a worthy cause that helps students who need support.
The Smith Family is a national children’s charity with a strong focus on helping disadvantaged young Australians to succeed at school and create positive futures for themselves.
Funds raised from this year’s Christmas Appeal will support two programs students2student which matches young students with older reading buddies and Learning Clubs which provides disadvantaged children with a safe and supportive after school learning environment where they can access the resources and help they need.
Ensuring disadvantaged children get the support they need to get the most out of their education and gain skills for life is a goal we share with the Smith Family.
In August the Tasmanian Liberal Government announced a $1.6 million co-investment with the Smith Family.
This partnership expands the successful Learning for Life scholarship program and sustains school community hubs within the Burnie/Wynyard and North East Launceston communities.
Austins Ferry Primary School is the latest school to come on board with The Smith Family, joining other southern schools such as Montrose, Windermere and the Jordan River schools.
