Skills funding applications now open

Applications are now open for a new round of skills funding to immediately address skills gaps identified by industry.

The Hodgman Liberal Government recognises that supporting a skilled and productive workforce is central to Tasmania’s economic and social success.

This is why the $3 million targeted funding round is aimed at training programs for specific industry sectors that have identified high growth and demand for skilled workers.

Priority sector relevant skills eligible under this round include:

  • Tourism and Hospitality to support the growth of this sector and the industry’s peak summer period;
  • Mining to support new iron ore mining operations in the North West with a focus on further enhancing health and safety skills;
  • Agriculture including Forestry to fill the need for skilled workers across agricultural sectors as part of the Agriskills project as well as the skilled labour needs of the dairy sector in the North West;
  • Disability Services to support the full rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in 2019; and
  • Building and Construction including Civil Construction to ensure training is available to respond to the significant activity in both the public and private sectors.

Further information including grant guidelines and application forms are available at https://www.skills.tas.gov.au/funding

Applications close on 14 August 2018.
