Skills Fund open for more training places

Applications are now open for the next round of the Skills Fund Demand Led program with up to $4.7 million available to support business and industry growth in Tasmania.

The Skills Fund provides funding for subsidised training for job seekers and existing worker, with a key focus on skills that take people into productive careers and the jobs that our industries require.

Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to jobs, this round of the Skills Fund Demand Led program builds on the last grant round in December that saw $4.17 million available for training for over 2300 Tasmanian learners.

Importantly the Skills Fund also stimulates significant private investment through the employer contributions.

Supporting a skilled and productive workforce is central to Tasmania’s economic and social success, and providing government subsidies for training is one key way in which the Tasmanian Government invests in the competitiveness of our Tasmanian businesses and their broader industry sectors.

Every time someone receives high quality training it supports them in finding a job, making a career change, or being more productive at the job they have – all of which are outcomes that will drive our state’s growth and productivity.

This Government understands the economic importance of job creation and that supporting the productivity of existing jobs is vital to create new jobs.

The Skills Fund is open to endorsed Registered Training Organisations and applications close Tuesday, 7 March 2017.

Further information including grant guidelines and application forms is available from Skills Tasmania on 03 6165 6012 or email theskillsfund@skills.tas.gov.au
