The Hodgman majority Liberal Government knows that a steady stream of skilled workers is central to Tasmania’s economic growth, which is why today’s National Centre for Vocational Education Research data is so pleasing.
The latest results show Tasmania is bucking the national trend, with 5525 apprentices and trainees commencing work in the 12 months ending 30 June 2019. This is up 9.7% from the same time last year.
Importantly we also see a continued increase in females taking up a trade or apprenticeship, with a 10.4% increase on the year before.
With Tasmanian businesses the most confident in the country, local companies are more certain about their future, and can invest more into their future workforce.
The Tasmanian Government is focused on developing the skills needed now and in the future to support our economy - an economy which is now the fastest growing in the nation.
