Simpson Prize success for St Patrick's College students

Congratulations to Sasha Massey and Madeleine Pearn, from St Patrick’s College, for their successes in the Commonwealth Government’s prestigious Simpson Prize announced in Canberra today.

Sasha was the Tasmanian winner and Madeleine was the Tasmanian runner-up in the awards which asked students to look beyond Gallipoli and consider the significance of the Western Front battles in helping to shape the ANZAC story.

Sasha will join seven other State and Territory winners in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience ANZAC Day commemorative services in France and Belgium in April.

Winners and runners-up also received a medallion and certificate to acknowledge their achievement and are currently attending a two-day educational program in Canberra.

More than 1100 students throughout Australia entered the awards.

Congratulations again to Sasha and Madeleine and all of the other Tasmanian students who entered the Simpson Prize.
