Showcasing premium Tasmanian produce to Asia

Tasmanian food and beverage products are the envy of the world and next week a Tasmanian delegation will showcase the best of Tasmania to a trade show in Singapore.

From April 24-27 the delegation of 9 Tasmanian food and beverage businesses will introduce their premium products to nearly 80,000 trade delegates from more than 70 countries at the Food and Hotel Asia 2018 trade show.

This is the first time in six years that a Tasmanian delegation has exhibited at Asia's biggest international food and hospitality trade event which provides direct contact to buyers, food companies, distributors, chefs and restaurateurs.

It will mean local producers selling their products directly to the decision-makers from some of the most valuable gourmet markets in the world.

Additionally, acclaimed Michelin Star chef and proud Brand Tasmania Ambassador Tetsuya Wakuda will also be on site talking to our producers and potential buyers at the Tasmanian stand on Wednesday.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is delighted to support our local industry internationally and proud to coordinate our attendance at Food and Hotel Asia 2018 through the Department of State Growth.

Across Asia we already sell some $127 million of Tasmanian food and beverages a year, up 41 per cent since the last time we attended Food and Hotel Asia in 2012, with more room to grow, more markets to tap in to and more deals to be struck.

Offerings on the menu will include Blue Hills Honey’s Tarkine Leatherwood Honey, Australian Honey Products’ Single Malt Whisky Honey Mead, Woodbridge Smokehouse’s smoked salmon/trout, gourmet potatoes from the Daly Company and Juicy Isle’s sparkling water and Tasmanian juices.

Tasman Sea Salt’s 100 per cent natural gourmet sea salt, Hill Farm Preserves’ award winning mustards and cold pressed canola oils, and Tasmanian Gourmet Sauces’ premium sauces, jams, mustards and relishes will all be on the table.

As Tasmania’s reputation for clean high-quality produce grows around the world we have to make sure we continue to take our offerings to where major buyers go to make their decisions, which is turn boosts our economy and creates jobs, many in regional Tasmania.
