Shorten must come clean on GST for Tasmania

Labor Leader Bill Shorten must use his fifth visit to Tasmania in just 12 days today to finally come clean on the GST.

On the weekend, Mr Shorten was in Western Australia, where he committed to adopting the Turnbull Government’s proposed changes to the GST, as far as they affect Western Australia:

"We have said we accept the government's proposition [to raise the floor to 75 cents]”*

Under the Turnbull Government’s proposed changes, Tasmania will on the face of it be $112 million better off over 6 years, and permanently better off after that.

Will Mr Shorten commit to matching this?

Or will Tasmania face a $112 million GST cut under Mr Shorten and Labor?

Voters deserve to know before they head to the polls in Braddon next Saturday.

*13/7/18 ‘This is great for Western Australia, but cold comfort to Tasmania.’
