Shameful display of politicking by Labor

Policy-free opportunist Sarah Lovell has reached a new low, basing her false claims on irresponsible, incorrect media reporting and political conspiracy theories.

For the record, I was not aware of another confirmed case of meningococcal disease prior to Tuesday’s media conference, which was held at 1pm, not 1.30pm as she dishonestly claims, and for Ms Lovell to suggest otherwise is completely misleading and irresponsible.

Ms Lovell is a proven liar.

This kind of disgusting behaviour from Ms Lovell shows Labor will stoop to any level to attempt to get attention.

Furthermore, Labor’s continued sniping over the timing of the serotype of a deceased young Tasmanian is utterly insensitive and has been addressed by the Director of Public Health – a respected and dedicated statutory officer. Public Health is responsible for managing notifiable diseases. We respect public health and back the important work they do.

It is disgusting for Ms Lovell to smear their important work for political gain.

Playing politics with health and generating fear is incredibly reckless and Ms Lovell should hang her head in shame.

Public Health is taking an appropriate and responsible approach to dealing with cases of meningococcal in Tasmania and the Government is committed to expanding our state-funded program on the competent advice of the Director.
